Right now, we are seeking a Die Cut Set up associate in our Leominster Branch for a crucial position in our client’s operations. Think you have what it takes? We want to hear from you!


Expert Staffing in partnership with Boutwell, Owensand Co., in Fitchburg have several openings in their Die Cut Department for Die Set Ups.  


This position exists in order toretrieve and prepare assorted paperboard die tooling, (dies, crease plates,waste removal units and blank separation units), in advance of machineprocessing in a manner that maximizes machine preparedness and minimizesmachine down-time.  The position alsoexists in order to breakdown that tooling upon project completion, and returnthe assorted tooling pieces to inventory to await subsequent use.



Handtruck, material handling equipment, Servo-Form channel cutting device/tablewith motorized, high speed grinding wheels and sanding attachments, hand tools,such as assorted wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers/mallets, leverage devices,X-acto knives, etc. , as well as electric drills and small electric orair-powered hand tools.



Reviewsjob specifications including job order directions, department supplementalinstructions, die vinyl/diagrams, samples and proofs.

Performsinspection of dies before set-up.

Accuratelyand securely installs die boards in die chases.

Piecestogether strip dies and changes die plugs for assorted die combinations.

Createscrease plates, using either Servo Table, channel creasing knives or channelcreasing matrix.

Createswaste removal units and blank separation tools.

Verifiesand documents production, quality and specification aspects as per checklists.

Retrievesvarious die tooling from inventory and returns tooling to inventory after jobcompletion.

Appliesejection rubber to dies.

Performsminor repairs, including re-applying ejection rubber and modifying dies orrefers complex repairs and modifications to the die makers.

Assiststhe die cutting machine operator load die tooling into the machinery and obtaindie impressions.

Retrievesdie tooling units after production.

Dismantlesdie tooling, waste removal tooling and blank separation tooling after jobcompletion.

Cleanscreasing plates after job completion.

Job Requirements



High school graduate preferred, (printing or carpentry trade is relevant), but education is not a prerequisite.

Ability to read and write English.

Ability to perform accurate arithmetic computations, including comfort working with fraction, decimals and read a ruler. 

Three months experience in the set-up of paperboard die cut tooling or six months experience operating paperboard die cutting machinery is preferred. 

Without the above previous experience, education in a printing or carpentry environment is preferred.  

Approximately three months is required to learn details of job duties and attain acceptable degree of proficiency on the simpler projects and tasks.  Typically, greater than six months experience is required in order to attain acceptable level of proficiency on the more complex projects and tasks. 

Basic computer competency is preferred.

Must be able to handle frequent interruptions and re-formulation of plans. 

Must be capable of handling multiple tasks. 

Must be able to demonstrate manual dexterity on a regular basis.         

Accurate set-up of specified die tooling in a manner that minimizes delays at the machine and maximizes machine capacity. 

Creation of crease plates in a precise manner that causes the production of well-formed and accurately aligned creases in folding carton-type product.
