Temp to Perm / Direct Hire Opportunity

 

Schedule

Wednesday 12:00 am to 6:00am and Thursday- Saturday 6pm-6am $16.00 pending experience

Wednesday from 12:00pm-6:00pm and Thursday-Saturday 6am-6pm $15.00 pending experience

 

 

 

JOB SUMMARY:        
This position exists in order to assist the Lead Pressperson by performing the primary, manual tasks and secondary verification, observation and inspection tasks associated with the operation of a large and complex offset printing machine during the process of producing sheets of printed paperboard.

 

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTMENT:       

High school diploma or equivalent,

Accurate color discrimination,

The ability to read and write English,

The ability to perform simple arithmetic computations, (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication & Division), including comfort working with fraction and decimals, is required.                       

Computer competency is preferred. 

 

EXPERIENCE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:    

Minimum of one-year experience operating a multi-color offset, flexo or gravure printing press, or serving as an assistant/2nd Pressperson on a multi-color offset printing crew is required. 

Experience with 4-color process work is desirable. 

Mitsubishi experience is a plus. 

Boutwell employees having a minimum of 6-months experience as a 3rd Pressperson/Feeder (1 year preferred), that demonstrate a high level of maturity, aptitude and initiative will be considered.

Blanket changing, cylinder packing, press wash-up and fountain tank experience is preferred. 

Experience with paperboard, in-line coating, ultra-violet ink and hand-held and scanning densitometry is a plus.                                      

Should be attentive, show initiative, have a strong desire to learn and progress, be capable of performing detailed examinations and remain attentive to detail which includes the ability to concentrate amid distractions.                                         

Should be capable of varying work pace, including the ability to work rapidly and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

After a minimum of 2 years, persons in this position should be able to assume the responsibilities of the 1st Pressperson if needed.

 

 

 

 

JOB DUTIES:

 

  1. Review job order specifications and department instruction sheets, to ensure that the specified materials are used, and specifications are followed.

  2. Gathers job order specification tools such as proofs, Save Sheets and LSD’s.

  3. Install and remove printing and coating blankets.

  4. Pack plate and blanket cylinders to machine and paperboard specifications.

    Set and adjust double sheet detector, side guide, head stops and gripper fingers.

  5. Monitor fountain tank conductivity and adjust as necessary.

  6. Monitor offset powder supply and replenish as necessary.

  7. Assist the Lead Pressperson in the evaluation of product.

  8. Wash-up ink units at conclusion of job orders.

  9. Cover for the Lead Pressperson during breaks.

  10. Identify marginal and non-conforming product.

  11. Set-up and operate scanning densitometer.

  12. Change and adjust rollers.

  13. Assist with preventive maintenance and minor repair tasks.

  14. Perform housekeeping tasks on and around the assigned machine.

  15. Help train and assist the 3rd Pressperson/Feeder.

  16. Retrieve designated inks at start of project and return any unused inks to storage/inventory at conclusion of project.

  17. Retrieve printing plates.

  18. Install and remove printing plates.

  19. Re-gum printing plates during extended delays.

  20. Wash blankets and cylinders as directed.

  21. Install inks in ink fountains, monitor ink supplies in fountains and replenish as necessary.

  22. Change in-line-coating supply, monitor the supply and the distribution, and adjust distribution and/or replenish supply as necessary.

  23. Monitor fountain tank supply and replenish as necessary.

  24. Drain and clean fountain tanks as necessary.

  25. Remove pallets of finished product from the machinery and deliver to in-process storage areas

  26. All other task as assigned.
